Five pointsCreative direction · 1 min read · Jake Coventry

Your brand deserves its own visual language.

A familiar category does not have to mean familiar creative.

  1. Make a specific choice

Choose visuals that serve your brand, audience and message. Ask what makes the direction particular to this campaign, rather than familiar to the cybersecurity category.

  2. Look beyond the sector

Explore editorial design, culture, architecture or consumer brands. Explain what each reference communicates and why it could be useful, rather than copying its surface appearance.

  3. Clarity carries the idea

Give the audience a clear message, readable hierarchy and meaningful next step. Distinctive design should make the story easier to engage with, not harder to understand.

  4. Think across the whole campaign

Test the direction in a small banner, presentation and event graphic. A campaign needs a flexible visual language, not just one impressive hero image.

  5. Capture the decisions that matter

Record the typography, palette, image treatment and layout principles behind the chosen direction. Give future collaborators examples they can apply without guessing what made it work.
